Worldwide soundscapes: a synthesis of passive acoustic monitoring across realms.

Darras, K. F., Rountree, R. A., Van Wilgenburg, S. L., Cord, A. F., Pitz, F., Chen, Y., ... & Mammides, C.

A big collaborative work involving researchers who took part in passive acoustic monitoring programs worldwide. Our investigations in the Mexican caves and the French perialpine lakes are listed.

Vizualization and quantification of coral reef soundscapes using CoralSoundExplorer software

Minier, L., Rouch, J., Sabbagh, B., Bertucci, F., Parmentier, E., Lecchini, D., Sèbe, F., Mathevon, N. & Emonet, R.

Backed by our acoustic engineers and our links with machine learning specialists, we develop methods and software dedicated to the analysis of vast databases. These tools, made available for free, are available in several specialised versions (for example, analysis of the soundscapes of coral reefs). We pay particular attention to providing these tools with intuitive user interfaces.

Acoustic playback is better than food to trap one of the worst invasive fishes

Turco, T., Voirin, L., Attia, J., Beninati, V., Higgs, D. M., Cagnant, M., & Médoc, V.

A collaborative work with freshwater managers showing the benefits of using acoustic cues instead of food to trap round gobies. We designed a low-cost submersible speaker playing reproductive calls. This method slightly increased trapping success and improved specificity with less bycatch.

Windy events detection in big bioacoustics datasets using a pre-trained convolutional neural network

Terranova, F., Betti, L., Ferrario, V., Friard, O., Ludynia, K., Petersen, G. S., Mathevon, N., Reby, D. & Favaro, L.

The aim is to develop acoustic monitoring of sensitive animal species (e.g. African penguins) that goes beyond simple counting of individuals. We are combining analytical methods and experimental approaches to identify the information carried by vocalisations (e.g. breeding stage, health status, social motivation, etc.) with methods of automatic monitoring of sound activity associated with artificial intelligence.

Physics-based model to predict the acoustic detection distance of terrestrial autonomous recording units over the diel cycle and across seasons: Insights from an Alpine and a Neotropical forest

Haupert, S., Sèbe, F., & Sueur, J.

In close partnership with the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle and the Office Français de la Biodiversité, we are developing solutions for monitoring bird populations, particularly in the high mountains.
